Upon my grandmother's retirement, her colleagues presented her with fortune-telling cards, twenty in total. Each card consisted of two halves of a drawing. When arranged in a row of five, we would compare the matched drawings and consult a chart to interpret their significance.

These cards were eventually passed down to me. Years ago, I digitized the cards, leaving them unused for quite some time. It was from this collection that the concept for this application emerged.

While I am aware of other variations of this method of divination featuring diverse artwork, more cards, and varying interpretation guidelines, this particular form holds a special significance for me.

At its core, the process involves shuffling the cards and placing them face down (a task easily facilitated by iPhone or iPad applications). Cards are then flipped over one by one, aligning adjacent images until all are revealed, allowing for individual interpretation of the combined images. This leaves ample room for personal reflection and insight into what the future may hold.

Like most forms of divination, this practice tends to evoke more questions than provide concrete answers. Nevertheless, there is an undeniable pleasure in engaging with predictions and contemplating whether they may manifest in reality.
